The California Preschool Curriculum Frameworks include ideas for how to intentionally integrate learning into childrens play; implement child-directed and teacher-guided activities; plan environments, interactions, routines, and materials that engage children in learning; and individualize curriculum based on childrens knowledge, skills, needs and interests. The frameworks were developed using an inclusive and deliberate input process, including statewide stakeholder meetings, public input sessions held throughout the state, public hearings and public comment. Input from the various review opportunities was considered and incorporated as appropriate. The California Preschool Curriculum Framework, Volume 3, including the domains for history\/social science and science, is in development. It is currently expected that Volume 3 of the framework will be released by spring 2013. Draft chapters of the California Preschool Curriculum Framework, Volume 3, including the domains for history\/social science and science, were available for public review and comment through July 1, 2011. During the development of the Preschool Curriculum Framework, Volume 3, in response to stakeholder input, it was decided to remove the chapters on Family and Culture and on Integrated Learning, and include them in a stand-alone publication as a supplemental guide to the foundations and frameworks.
