The author decided to more research on Chris  originally intending to write a book just about Chris Madsen. As the research progressed it became clear that the lives of four of the early lawmen of the Twin Territories (The Oklahoma Territory and the Indian Territory  the area that is today the state of Oklahoma) were closely entwined.
