About this book

A place called Subiaco: A history of the Benedictine monks in Arkansas by Assenmacher, Hugh. hardcover edition. ISBN: 9780914546160.

Founded in 1878 by St. Meinrads Abbey in Indiana. Subiacos history has been marked by tragic deaths and disastrous fires as well as triumphs and accomplishments. How these all fit together within the framework of Benedictine life is the story of this book. Subiaco was established for the spiritual care of German immigrants in Logan County, Arkansas. The monasterys works have expanded, especially the school established soon after the monastery was founded, spiritual care continues in 17 parishes and 5 missions that are cared for by the monks of the abbey.
