About this book

Beyond the mind : conversations on the deeper significance of living by Dada. paperback edition. ISBN: 9780930608019.

A WORD TO THE READER Language is born out of tradition and carries a strong bias of the culture. When anything new is to be shown, when something that is beyond the experience of words and language is to be presented, words become a hindrance in expressing the meaning and communicating the feeling. Therefore, one has to depend more on ones awareness and intelligence to capture the spirit behind the statements, rather than get hooked on the traditional meaning of the word. Mind tries to comprehend the truth and aesthetic states through words, but words fail miserably to give the experience of the state. For example, the word " meditation" will never be able to give the reader the understanding of the state which the word signifies. To understand what the writer has to say about," meditation", " attention into oneself," "intelligence," "being in the present," or " being without thought," etc.,the reader will have to come close to the author by leaving his own traditional stand. He will have to be open to capture the essence of the statement through unbiased attention. Truth is not understood through words, and wisdom is not experienced through ideas and logic. Any deep understanding is the result of innate silence. Such silence lies beyond the frontiers of thoughts and words. Can the reader go through the words of this book with silence in himself, without the reaction of his traditional mind? Can he look beyond the sentence to gather the sense and essence of the statement? Can the reader be free from the rigidity of the word and dogmatic assertion of the mind to feel the meaning that the writer is trying to convey? It is worth a try. Through books and their reading alone, one will never come upon the state of creative silence where the experience takes place. Reading gradually becomes an intellectual game. The more one reads, the more he starts iiving in his exclusive idea world of time and less in total living experience of now. This book, too, can be a hindrance in coming upon that now wherein understanding happens. One of the purposes of this book is to show the limitations as well as the futility of reading and on depending upon words and ideas to experience the truth. The moment this book creates such a hindrance and becomes a catch to the mind, the reader should be alert and attentive within himself, and be ready to throw this book out of the window, to be free from reading all such books from there on. THE ABOVE IS A MESSAGE TO THE READERS OF THIS BOOK FROM THE AUTHOR.
