That same archival photo treasure is again used to illustrate and celebrate new and continuing research on the historic, maritime, literary, and ecological legacies shared by Monterey and the Pacific Northwest. It now connects Monterey and Puget Sound-northwest Washington through the largely Croatian boatbuilding industry which enabled Montereys Sicilian dominated sardine fishing industry to earn Monterey the title of Sardine Capital of the World during WW II. The new Fourth Edition illustrates the ecological significance of the extensive Northwest expeditions of the 1930s and 1940s by Cannery Rows Edward F.
