An Alaska Aleutian Island Adventure. Chain of Life presents a picture of the Aleut community of Unalaska-Dutch Harbor during the 1970s through the eyes of two young mena Japanese-American pilot searching for his Aleut mother and an Aleut orphan seeking to reestablish contact with his family. Although the plot of Chain of Life is fictional it has historical interest. It shows the Aleutian Islands during a period when this unique region was experiencing an economic invasion by seafood processors while still recovering from the ravages of World War II and the Aleut evacuation. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Dr. Elizabeth Tower traveled in the Aleutian Islands as a physician with the Alaska Division of Public Health for the better part of two decades. Since her retirement from medicine she has written about Alaska history including several biographies and prize winning articles in Alaska History. Dr. Tower was named Historian of the Year by the Alaska State Historical Society for her book Icebound Empire.
