This is an excellent genealogical guide for those unfamiliar with the Swedish language or the Swedish record system who desire to dig in and do it for themselves. In simple language, the author makes you aware of differences between American spellings and their counterparts in Swedish for both persons and places which is so important in searching original records. Since the records are handwritten, the author includes several pages of examples of how the letters might appear and which could serve as an aid in the name identification process. In several appropriate locations throughout the book there are lists of definitions of terms which would help facilitate understanding the language of the records.
