About this book
German Warships of World War II by J. C. Taylor. hardcover edition. ISBN: 9780711001541.
This book is one of a comprehensive series of reference books dealing with the great Navies that took part in Second World War. This book contains details of the "fighting ships" of the German Navy. Details are included of ships taken over by the Germans from other countries which served as an integral part of the German Navy. One Amazon review stated; "This is a terrific book if you are looking for a comprehensive reference for ships, and ordinance. This series is mixed on discussion of navies in general, but this edition does have some discussion about various aspects of the Kriegsmarine, but not much. The introduction is tiny, there is a better, but also much too brief discussion of the U-boat design and construction. The photographs vary, there is an attempt to portray most designs with at least one photograph, but even in the case of major capital ships there will not be a great collection. On the other hand, if you want a comprehensive list of all active vessels in the German Navy, this is it. They list everything that was ever used including many captured vessels, and tiny vessels like motor launches and S-boats, ... including 3-masted Barque training ships. If you are a naval buff, wargamer etc., its a worthwhile purchase."
