After an introduction to the history of the ASL and Deaf culture etiquette, youll learn the signing basics, including the importance of facial expressions and the ten most commonly used handshapes. Then youll find more than eighty useful ASL phrases that start simple, such as "This food sucks!" and build in complexity, all the way up to such expressions as "Do you think this skirts too short? Good." Best of all, each phrase is broken down into easy-to-learn units and illustrated with clear diagrams that make mastering ASL a snap. Before long, youll be slinging sign-language smack like a pro! This irreverent book is your essential guide to ASL put-downs, comebacks, and come-ons, all delivered with a side order of bad attitude. -- Or, be able to understand what your deaf students or children are really saying! Both inner flaps have illustrations of signs for use while reading the book.
