The Wilderness Act of 1964 specifically says that wilderness is for the use and enjoyment of the American people. Most types of outdoor recreation are allowed in wilderness except those needing mechanical transport or motorized equipment. There are 43 Wilderness Areas in Colorado and this book covers 29 of the more easily accessed ones with over 120 hikes including 26 Colorado 14ers. Hikes include driving instructions to the trailhead easy-to-follow trail directions and maps to help visualize the hike. Author Dave Muller has been trekking in the Colorado wilderness for the past forty-two years. He has written seven previous outdoor guides and for seventeen years wrote a weekly column in The Denver Post.
