When Lisa Atwood goes to visit a friend of her mothers and her daughter Marguerite in a nearby town Lisa doesnt expect to have a good time. Marguerite does ride however so when she suggests that she and Lisa go riding things start to look up. Marguerites horse is gorgeous and shes very pleased with it. In fact so pleased that she rides off and leaves Lisa on a strange trail. Lisa doesnt mind too much--her horse may be old but she is sweet-natured and its a nice day. Then the mare stumbles and Lisa is thrown. She cant ride and she cant walk. Shes alone with just the horse for company. The mare stays with Lisa protecting the injured girl and keeping her warm and sheltered from the rain that begins to fall. Can the horse care for Lisa until help arrives?
