The nations television critics voted Steve Allens "Meeting of Minds" scripts as the Best TV Writing of 1976-1977, together with James Costigans "Eleanor and Franklin". Subsequently the series won the Peabody Award, an Encyclopaedia Britannica Award, the Film Advisory Board Award, and an official endorsement by the National Education Association.
