The photographs and accompanying captions present the scenery, beaches, architecture, geography, culture, and history of Puerto Rico, with a special emphasis on aerial photographs and Viejo (Old) San Juan. A full page of text introduces each of the four chapters, which are: "Dawn" (dealing with the island’s history); "La Isla del Encanto" (translation: "the Island of Enchantment"); "San Juan"; and "Island in the Sun". This is the fourth book on Puerto Rico from author-photographer Roger LaBrucherie, whose books on Barbados, Bermuda, the Dominican Republic, and Hawaii have made him one of the world’s leading photographers of tropical islands.
