Snakebite

About this book

The ancient folk art of storytelling still thrives in the rolling mountains and long valleys of north-central Pennsylvania. To honor this tradition James York Glimm--teacher folk singer and lover of folklore--sought out celebrated raconteurs and colorful characters and persuaded them to tell their favorite stories. Snakebite presents the three most popular kinds of orally transmitted narratives: folktales true stories and autobiographies. Glimms collection includes a surprising variety of folktale forms including jokes anecdotes and whoppers.
