Marmaduke is a newspaper comic strip revolving around the Winslow family and their Great Dane Marmaduke drawn by Brad Anderson (1924-2015) from 1954 to 2015. Brad Anderson died on August 30 2015 at the age of 91 leaving the long-term fate of the strip unknown; strips co-drawn with the help of his son Paul Anderson continue to be syndicated. Marmaduke didnt begin life as a puppy but materialized as a full-grown dog modeled after a Boxer name Bruno. Bruno a clown and exhibitionist lived with Andersons parents in Jamestown New York. Andersons family pets have influenced the development of Marmaduke over the years. Many of their dogs were of the Heinz 57 varieties but a Lab named Gypsy and two Dalmatians Duchess and Alice provided a great deal of Marmaduke material along the way. This book was published in 1978 just shy of Marmadukes 25th anniversary.
