The Rise and Fall of Nauvoo

The rebuilding and rededication of the Nauvoo Temple has turned the hearts of Latter-day Saints toward Nauvoo and the triumphal and tragic events that unfolded there between 1838 and 1846. In 1900 these events were passionately chronicled by B. H. Roberts (1857-1933) - Mormon General Authority historian and intellectual - in his classic work The Rise and Fall of Nauvoo. This book has now been reissued to commemorate both the rededication of the temple and the courageous faithful Saints who under the strain of violent persecution sacrificed all that they had sometimes their very lives to complete the sacred edifice. Their story needs to be not only read and remembered but also reprinted on the hearts of every succeeding generation of Latter-day Saints. No one tells their story with greater feeling or with deeper reverence and gratitude that B. H. Roberts. His retelling of the story is itself an important part of the legacy that needs to be preserved. The reissue of his classic work in an archival-quality binding will help to make this possible.
