In 1991 the United States Senate granted Maroon unique access to all public and private areas of the Capitol building including those in which photography is customarily prohibited. These photographs are the result of 18 months of effort and reveal the majestic interior and exterior of this American landmark building. Publication of this book is part of the bicentennial celebrations of the 1793 laying of the cornerstone by George Washington. The archival images document the buildings 100-year long architectural transformation.
