About this book
Testing is only one way of evaluating a students understanding and mastery of the material you are teaching. TOTAL HEALTH curriculum includes worksheets vocabulary exercises class discussions group and individual projects from which to choose. As a convenience TOTAL HEALTH supplies one or two quizzes and one chapter test for each chapter. Based upon your class needs and teaching emphasis these tests are designed as guides from which you can use all or part of each test. A unit test is not provided in the test and quiz book due to the fact that the teacher will write a unit test based upon the results of the quizzes and tests. Although testing is often very stressful for students it should not be a means to threaten or place undue stress upon students. Teachers must prepare students for evaluation. By no means does this mean to inform the students of the questions and answers. It does mean however that the teacher should establish the testing based on what was taught not on what is assumed known. Each quiz and test supplied in the Total Health curriculum is designed to accommodate different learning styles: True and False Matching Short answer Essay: Note: if your students do not know how to write an essay give them a brief discussion concerning the components of an essay. Do not grade too harshly on the format but more on the content grammar spelling puncuation and depth of understanding. If the students know what you expect they are more likely to succeed. The standard texts and quizzes supplied are neither too easy or too hard. Remember these evaluations were written based on the textbook material not on how the material was taught. Make your own adjustments to be sure you are testing the students fairly.
