About this book

This volume is intended to be both a catalogue for the special exhibit that will mark the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Harvard-Yenching Institutes founding and also a set of studies highlighting areas of the Harvard Yenching Librarys collections. The eleven essays range from general surveys of the Librarys resources in particular to studies based on the Librarys holdings on particular subkjects. Some essays in an attempt to illlustrate the rich and diverse collections at Harvard also cover holdings on the same subjects in other libraries or museums. The essays and accompanying illustrations will demonstrate to the reader the richness and breadth of the Librarys collections that are accessible to scholars from all over the world.
