As the author performs the preflight inflight and postflight activities of his last mission in the BUF (B-52) memories of his career as a pilot unfold into a collection of experiences and vignettes often with a humorous bent of the lives of crewmembers in peace and war. He presents the human side of flying a serious mission from the boredom of nuclear alert to tedious missions in Southeast Asia.
