Wilson Hurley is one of Americas foremost contemporary landscape artists. He has brought to his paintings his individual experiences his career as a pilot and his love of the Southwest. He works from his direct perceptions of nature which are reflected on his canvas: vast expanses of sky aerial views of the landscape and personal involvement with his subject matter. To commemorate his 20 year career as an artist the Buffalo Bill Historical Center with the cooperation of The Albuquerque Museum assembled a retrospective exhibition featuring some of Hurleys finest works which are presented in this volume. Recently Wilson Hurley has completed a series of heroic landscapes for the National Cowboy Hall of Fame that defy description in their majesty and interpretation of the American West.
