Black: A Celebration of a Culture

Willis (photography Tisch School of the Arts New York U.) has assembled an exhilarating collection of black & white photographs in this handsome oversize (10.25x11.25") volume that celebrates Black culture. The photographs are of friends family members activities gatherings people and places. Collected from the Smithsonian the Library of Congress individual photographers archives and contemporary photographers the images retain their subjects joy and dignity. The photographs come from different eras but are arranged by themes such as children work the arts everyday life sports portraits and spirituality.
